Solution Architect & Engineering Team Lead

I design and build AI applications and lead engineering teams.

  • Application architecture

    Document Reader

    Live API · On-device parsing

Drop in a PDF or Word file to get section summaries, search, and answers that cite the exact passage.

Try a sample document and inspect its cited answers.

Design decision: Read files on your device; check answer citations against the source passage.

  • Model routing and cost controls

    Model Gateway

    Live API

Send a live request and follow its route through the models. See what happens when one fails, and inspect the estimated response cost.

Test routing and inspect the fallback trace.

Design decision: Check shared quotas before a call, then try models in order and record its cost.

  • Agent tools and evaluation

    Agent Replays

    Recorded replay

Watch recorded runs of a research agent that traces early Hawaiian recordings, with every tool call and the checker's verdict.

Replay a research task and inspect the checker's verdict.

Design decision: Choose the model using held-out tasks and publish failed runs alongside successes.

About

About Me

I grew up in Honolulu and moved to Boston for college. My route into software went through English literature, patient care, and psychology research. Working alongside care teams got me interested in the systems they relied on. Programming gave me a way to work on those systems.

Today I build software and lead engineering teams at Deloitte, primarily supporting federal healthcare agencies. I enjoy getting to know the people who use our tools, learning how they work, and figuring out what we can make easier together.

NowSince 2024

Solution Architect & Engineering Team Lead

I design and build full-stack AI applications for federal healthcare agencies, working with users and engineering teams from planning through maintenance.

  • Design AI-assisted workflows with editable outputs, version history, and human review before work is finalized.
  • Build document-processing pipelines with structured extraction, source-linked search, recoverable background jobs, and server-side access controls.
  • Work with data scientists on analytics and machine learning applications, and lead development and maintenance through Posit Workbench and Posit Connect.
  • Work with users and stakeholders to set technical direction, maintain applications and automated systems, and plan improvements. Extend shared AI middleware alongside other engineering teams.
  • Lead engineering teams and mentor developers, helping with technical decisions and software delivery while continuing to write code.

Earlier Roles

  1. 2023Software Engineering Team Lead

Led a team building full-stack applications for structured records and unstructured content, and helped it grow.

    • Led frontend, backend, and database development, adding solution architecture responsibilities in 2024.
    • Worked with another team to migrate deployment pipelines and add static analysis and security scans.

Angular, .NET, SQL Server · AWS · Azure DevOps

  2. 2022Software Engineer

Moved from QA automation and analytics into software engineering and application support.

    • Built natural language processing scripts in Python during a data science assignment, alongside analytics and QA automation work.
    • Maintained custom web applications and automated jobs, including certificate, token, and key renewals.
    • Owned a monolithic application with embedded business intelligence reports and guided upgrades from Angular 10 to 21 and .NET Framework 4.8 to .NET 10.
    • Helped migrate the application from on-premises servers to AWS. Managed non-production servers and coordinated QA and production work with the infrastructure team.

Angular, .NET, SQL Server · Tableau and Power BI embedding · Python, pandas, R, Selenium · NLP

  3. 2021Data Analyst

Joined Deloitte after completing a professional certificate in data analytics, working remotely from Honolulu.

    • Built an analytics framework with Python and R, and a Tableau dashboard for an executive team to interpret employee surveys and guide restructuring.

    Python, R, Excel, Tableau

  4. EarlierBehavior Therapist & Research Assistant

Worked in school-based behavior therapy and psychology research before moving into data analytics.

    • Worked with students in K-12 schools using applied behavior analysis.
    • Assisted with developmental affective neuroscience research at Columbia University.
    • Assisted with social psychology research on intergroup relations at Columbia University.

My personal Mac, the tools I use, and what I build outside work.

Coding Agents
Claude Code and Codex share instructions and skills for review, debugging, design, and writing. Hooks trim output, flag repeated calls, and add code context.
Local Models
Ollama serves models to apps under development and, occasionally, to agent helpers. MLX runs models on Apple silicon, through Ollama or on its own.
Editors & Terminal
VS Code, Xcode · kitty · ripgrep, delta, lazygit
Languages
TypeScript (Node via fnm, pnpm), Python (uv, Jupyter), Java, .NET, Go, Rust, Swift, R
Containers & Cloud
Colima and the Docker CLI · Terraform · AWS and Azure CLIs · Local CI checks
Checks
Secret and dependency scans, pre-commit hooks, and a prose linter
Built for It
A skills installer and validator, experimental agent checkpoints, and scripts to back up and rebuild this Mac.
Side Projects
Prototypes of a Hawaiian vocabulary game (Unity, .NET, PostgreSQL) and an iOS app for exploring ahupuaʻa, the traditional Hawaiian land divisions (SwiftUI).
